Nutrient Depleting Drugs causing Nutrient Deficiencies
Nutrient Depleting Drugs & Nutrient Deficiencies
Antiarrhythmic agents: Digoxin depletes calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and B1. Phenytoin, which is used for ventricular arrhythmia, as well as grand mal, simple partial and complex partial seizures, depletes the body of biotin, calcium, folic acid, thiamin, B12, vitamin D, and vitamin K.
Antihypertensives: Beta blockers (used for hypertension, angina, and arrhythmia) deplete coenzyme Q10. ACE inhibitors (benazepril, captopril, enalapril, fosinopril, lisinopril), collectively deplete the body of zinc. Hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene deplete the body of B6, folic acid, and calcium.
Antilipemic agents: Cholestyramine resin and colestipol deplete the body of beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin A, B12, vitamin D, folic acid, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. Statin drugs (atorvastatin, cerivastatin, fluvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin) deplete the body of coenzyme Q10.
Antidiabetic agents: metformin (glucophage), acetohexamide (dymelor), glyburide (diabeta, glynase, prestab, micronase), tolazaminde (tolinase), tolbutamide (orinase), as a group deplete coenzyme Q10, with desipramine also depleting the body of B12. Since diabetes is a cardiovascular disease risk factor, the depletion of these nutrients places the individual at increased risk, because of the fact that coenzyme Q10 and B12 contribute to proper cardiovascular health.

Is your Vitamin A Synthetic? Probably yes!
Synthetic vitamin A: Palmitate, lemon grass, retinal, beta carotene (can be made synthetically) & Polyprenoic acid folks don’t take any of these.
Vitamin A from Fish oil is natural yet hard to digest and often have toxins. The best is mixed carotenoids from a plant.

*Example of Synthetic Vitamin A and how some try to trick people: Vitamin A (20% as beta-carotene) 2500 IU, so what is the other 80% made from? Yes Synthetic vitamin A but they didn't put that on the bottle..
A significant number of the vitamin A you will find on the Health Food Store and pharmacy shelves these days are made synthetically through chemical processes, rather than derived directly from plants or other materials. Only a few manufacturers produce natural vitamins. In fact, some manufacturers of vitamin A say they are “Natural Vitamin A” but they are not. Sometimes the word natural use in the name of the company that’s on the label, then people make the mistake in believing that all their products are natural.
It is not difficult to make the distinction between "synthetic" and "natural" vitamins. Some define a natural vitamin as a concentrated nutrient derived from a quality natural source. No artificial colors, flavors, men made material, sweeteners, or preservatives are used.
A natural source contains co-factors and synergistic nutrients that come with it in nature. It is concentrated from its natural source as carefully as possible. No extreme heat, pressure, or toxic solvents are used in the process. The nutrients are prepared from high quality raw ingredients. No artificial chemicals are added. Harsh binders and fillers do hinder absorption and can be toxic to the body. These items are not food thus putting stress on the body to eliminate it.
Synthetic vitamins are made in a laboratory setting from coal tar derivatives. No co-factors are present. Most of the food supplements sold on the market today are synthetic.
